Sukot Real Ops VATSIM Israel (VATIL) Division is inviting you all to a unique event, which will take place on the fourth day of Sukkot Holiday, on October 20th, between 14:00-20:00Z. During this event, we will be preforming our traditional "Real-OPS" event, combined with a mini-control room event. At the control room, VATIL Air Traffic Controllers will meet in a state of the art facility donated by one of our members for the sake of ATC training sessions and events whenever such member wishes. During the Real-OPS event, LLBG will be simulating real-life traffic according to a special booking system for both inbound and outbound flights. Concurrently, full ATC coverage will be offered in the Israeli airspace throughout the event's length, covering the lowest ground positions and all of our CTR positions as well. Complete your walk around in the dawn to be ready for a number of inter-europe rotations. Welcome your passengers on board and complete the boarding on time in order to not fall behind schedule on the very first leg. Enjoy the unusual long ILS approach for runway 23 over the Lake Geneva or vectors over mountainous terrain for runway 05, depending on the wind situation. As fog/mist is not unusual in the early morning hours at this time of the year, you might expect low visibility at ground levels. Even holdings might be assigned. After the first wave of IFR traffic has quieten down, it's time for the small VFR aircraft to start their Sunday trip. The Valais and Vaud Alps are waiting for you just at the other end of Lake Geneva. And if you can't stop admiring the beautiful mountainous Swiss landscape, make a stop for example at Gruyère, Lausanne, Sion or Saanen-Gstaad for a coffee or lunch. Also helicopter trips are recommendable in this region. On the way back, take a look at Castle Chillon near Montreux and follow the vineyards back towards Geneva. The Midwest Showdown Join the ZKC, ZME and ZID ARTCC's as we present The Midwest Showdown. Cincinnati [KCVG], Nashville [KBNA], and St. Louis [KSTL] will be fully staffed. The event will run from 2200z - 0200z. All IFR and VFR traffic is welcome. This event is just the first of many more events like this. They are an addition to VATUSA's FNO and are going to be called Regional Events. The plan is to have them 1-2 times per month on Sunday's where there is a lot of traffic in the United States and not as many controllers on. These are similar to Light up America just on a smaller and more manageable scale. Regional events are going to showcase 3-4 ARTCCs and 1 airport per ARTCC. These destinations will have an estimated flight time of 60-90 minutes.
