Cross the Arctic | VATSIM Event
Name: Cross The Arctic
Description: Welcome to Cross the Arctic: three departure airports, three arrival airports, and a whole lot of snow and ice in-between. On Saturday, September 4th, between 11:00 and 14:00 UTC, we will have Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (EHAM), Cologne Bonn Airport (EDDK), and Helsinki Vantaa Airport (EFHK) staffed to the gills to accommodate your departure to either Vancouver (CYVR), Calgary (CYYC), or Seattle-Tacoma (KSEA). All along the route, we will staff the en-route facilities to supply you with everything you’d expect from a long-haul flight. So bring your favorite long-haul aircraft, your business jet, or whatever you want, and join us for 9+ hours of packed airspace and professional air traffic control.
Bookings will open at 18:00z on the 21st of August! A total of 90 slots will be available over the course of the departure window at each departure airport. Be sure to secure your slot early at our booking website. We hope you’ll join us on the 4th for this event and look forward to seeing many of you there!

Discord is a multi-platform communication application and is completely free. It can be used on your computer running on PC, Mac, Linux or mobile devices running Android and iOS. For members using Discord on your mobile devices, please ensure your are on a WIFI network when using Voice Channels to prevent data overage charges from your service provider.

This year, taking place from both Toronto and Winnipeg, where the FIR will have two teams working in conjunction, the event will take place on September 29th, starting at 2300z (1900 Eastern).
Bring your IFR, VFR, and come fly the friendly Winnipeg skies for our biggest event of 2021 so far!
**NOTE:** Due to current local COVID-19 protocols, any participating controllers are asked to be fully vaccinated, or present proof of a negative PCR test on the day of the event. Thank you!

Pilots flying in this event do not have aircraft type rating restrictions when flying on the VATSIM Network. However the aircraft type must be within current VAC fleet. Important Information:
- All online flights are recorded with VACARS after online event assignment has been approved.
- All group flight events are flown on the VATSIM Network.
- Ensure you have all charts available for your flight.
- Members must comply with all applicable VATSIM policies and procedures.
- Pushback from gate is at own discretion unless otherwise advised by online ATC.
- Takeoff between aircraft is: 2 minutes after narrowbody aircraft and 3 minutes after widebody aircraft for separation.
